Basic Security Training (BST) – Student Agreement
Welcome to your Basic Security Training (BST) course!
The provincial basic security training courses are designed to prepare you to work professionally in the private security industry across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
If you successfully complete the course and pass the provincial exam, you will receive a Certificate of Training Completion. You will then be eligible to apply for your security worker or guard licence and seek employment.
Important Information
Course Duration: Minimum of 40 hours of instruction by an approved instructor.
Attendance: 100% attendance is required.
Language Requirement: All instruction and exams are in English. You must be able to speak, read, and write in English at Canadian Language Benchmark Level 5 or higher.
Exam Requirements
You must present two pieces of valid government-issued ID (passport, driver’s licence, birth certificate, or permanent resident card).
Exams are written online through a designated portal or onsite.
Zero Tolerance Cheating Policy: Any cheating, misconduct, or dishonesty will result in immediate disqualification from the course and may affect your ability to obtain a security licence.
Certificates
Certificates will be issued through your course portal and are available for download after passing your provincial exam. You must keep a copy for your licence application.
Student Acknowledgment
By registering for and attending this course, the student confirms that:
- The student has read, understands, and agrees to follow all course rules.
- The student will complete all work honestly and without misconduct.
- The student is fluent in English and meet the Canadian Language Benchmark Level 5 standard.
- The student understands that failure to meet these requirements may affect their course completion, exam eligibility, or licensing application.
Student Agreement
I confirm that:
I have read and understand the Student Agreement.
I will not cheat or act dishonestly during the course or exam.
I can speak, read, and write English at Canadian Language Benchmark Level 5 or higher.
I understand that if I break any rules, my training or exam results could be cancelled, and I may not get certified or licensed.
